Pathway Lending Names Matt Wiltshire as President of New Affordable Housing Initiative

Experienced Advocate to Lead Tennessee CDFI’s Affordable Housing Corporation

Pathway Lending, Tennessee’s largest non-depository Community Development Financial Institution, today announced Matt Wiltshire as senior vice president of affordable housing for Pathway Lending and president of the newly-created Pathway Affordable Housing Corporation.

Wiltshire brings years of experience in affordable housing to Pathway Lending and Pathway Affordable Housing Corporation. As the chief strategy and intergovernmental affairs officer for Nashville’s Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA), Wiltshire facilitated the creation of six mixed-income, affordable housing developments, totaling over 525 units. He also supported MDHA’s collaborations with the private sector to facilitate the development of an additional 3,500 units.

“The creation and preservation of affordable housing is core to our mission,” said Pathway Lending president and CEO, Clint Gwin. “As the need for affordable housing continues to rise alongside escalating living expenses, we recognize the urgency to act. No one is better positioned to lead these efforts on behalf of Pathway than Matt. With Matt’s proven leadership and expertise, we are proud to launch Pathway Affordable Housing Corporation to help address this challenge and create sustainable communities across Tennessee.”

Before his tenure at MDHA, Wiltshire served as the director of the mayor’s office of economic and community development under three administrations, where his efforts helped catalyze economic growth and helped lead to a significant decrease in Nashville’s unemployment rate, plus the generation of over 42,000 new jobs. Prior to his government service, Wiltshire worked for fifteen years in investment banking and venture capital.

Pathway Affordable Housing Corporation will initially focus on acquiring affordable multi-family housing units, investing in those communities and deepening their affordability. Building on Pathway’s substantial financing impact, which has exceeded $90 million, supporting affordable housing projects totaling $240 million and benefitting 2,472 units since 2014, this new initiative will extend its impact through the acquisition, rehabilitation, and development of properties in Davidson County and surrounding counties with plans to expand throughout Tennessee.

“I am honored to take on this role as president at Pathway Affordable Housing Corporation,” said Matt Wiltshire. “I am excited to join the Pathway team who is committed to bringing market-based solutions to the housing challenges our communities are facing.  We will partner with the corporate, government, philanthropic and nonprofit sectors to ensure that residents have access to safe, quality, affordable homes in Tennessee.”

Wiltshire is a graduate of Hume-Fogg Academic High School and Dartmouth College. He has served as the president of the board of Hands On Nashville and on the executive committee of the boards of the Center for Nonprofit Management and the Tennessee Justice Center.
